Total reamping from a clean signal means that your high gain circuitry comes after all the noisefloor of your DI, Preamp, A/D, D/A & reamp. I find that a combination of cab emulation and a real cab may work better than the full fizzy signal. An electric guitar can be recorded direct while monitoring a software amp simulator. (I turn the AIR stuff off - that's just some slap delays that I dislike). I bought Radial X-AMP to reamp my guitar. In real-world re-amping, the signal will be subject to both playback latency as the audio exits the DAW, and recording latency as the mic'ed-up amp signal is returned to the mix. Recently I tried my old ENGL-E530 with torpedo cabs and it sounds great (at least to me).
I've never reamped guitars before using analog devices (preamp box, etc), l usually reamp in DAW. Hi everyone, not sure if that's the right place to ask, but since I'm using axe fx in my recording workflow I believe someone can help.
